Semi Regular Retirees Game 07/10/25 Cruel Seas Mediterranean.

Our Thursday Retirees Game at Miniature Market Cave Springs took a trip to the warm environs of the Mediterranean as a British and Italian convoy stumbled upon one another as day broke over the water.

The British (Steve L, Steve T and Kurt L) were escorting the freighter at the top left of the photo to the opposite edge of the table. Conversely the Italians (Pat L, Mark J and Greg D) had a MFP that needed to go in the opposite direction. Much in the way of gunfire and torpedo shots ensued…..

With both sides sporting some high speed craft (Italian MAS boats and British Vospers) it didn’t take long for the sides to come into range. Getting hits was another matter as shooting at a high speed target while traveling high speed requires some deft dice rolling. Above we see a MAS Boat firing torpedoes while Steve T’s Fairmile lays (I forgot the cotton balls so we used what was handy) a smoke screen to cover the freighter.

A bit later in the scenario Kurt’s Vosper had collied with Greg’s MAS Boat sinking it. This was followed by Pat’s MAS Boat doing a slow drive by finishing off the now stationary British craft. Dice represent the number of turns that the hulks will remain afloat as a menace to navigation.

Mark moves up the Italian Corvette to engage available targets.

Having fired their torpedoes, which resulted in mostly duds and having lost the MFP to British fish (in a spectacular display of dice rolling by Steve L) the now frustrated MAS Boats ram the stationary freighter (it having stopped when it collided with a MAS boat on it’s bow. The MAS boats were still barely afloat but their combined efforts did in the British merchantman.

Game ended in a draw with a slight edge to the Royal Navy.

Thanks to all the players and of course a sincere Thank You to Miniature Market Cave Springs for their continued support.
