Battle of St. Louis/Attack on Cahokia May 26, 1780 Game Demonstration Event 05/31/25 @ Friendship Village

As part of Big Muddy Historical Gaming Alliance – St. Louis’s educational and outreach mission a group of our Game Masters visited Friendship Village Senior Living Facility in Chesterfield, Missouri to discuss and game through some of our local history of the American War of Independence namely the Battle of St. Louis and Attack on Cahokia.

The day started with a brief description of the events and reasons that led up to the battles by Burt Campbell.

Soon the tables filled up with eager players wanting to give the hobby of table top miniature gaming a try as above with Burt’s Attack on Cahokia using Black Powder rules by Warlord Games.

The action across the room represented the battle across the river as Steve Lowry explained the battle that was about to unfold at Fort San Carlos, the name of the Spanish built tower that was the center point of the defenses of St. Louis.

Burt’s game drew a sizable audience of participants and onlookers as Bob Alsop pitched in helping the Colonists defending Cahokia.

Steve Lowry likewise had an engaged group as the musketry was exchanged between the sides.

An overall pleasant day of gaming in some superb surroundings with a fun group of folks.

Reports from Cahokia indicated a likely British/Native win for the day as the flanks were turning.

It looked like St. Louis would hold, but the cost was high as the attacking forces were exceptionally accurate in their fire eliminating many defenders.

Our Thanks to all the Game Masters, Players, Participants and observers that took time out of their day to engage in our hobby of table top miniature gaming. We offer a special Thank You to Burt Campbell and Bob Alsop who facilitated this event at Friendship Village and to the gracious reception we received there.
