Game Nite was a busy spot this Tuesday as the historical miniatures deployed to the their table tops seeing two eras represented. The always popular Bolt Action was there with a German vs British scenario for the WWII community. Our other table tracked back a bit more in US history to the mid 1860s and the American Civil War.
Andrew was kind enough to take a few notes and send some great photos of the event and we will turn the narrative over to him…..

“Table one is Bolt Action! Germans and British! “

“Table two is Rebels and Patriots, using 15mm ACW!.“
“We’re playing a ‘historically plausible’ action outside of Jefferson City during Price’s Expedition of October 1864! A Union battery protected by skirmishers with a unit of light infantry reinforcement is attempting to hold the confederate advance!.”

“The Union throws out an aggressive screen of skirmishers, taking the fight to the Rebs!.”

“A unit of confederate raiders comes out of the woods right under the battery, but both guns fail to activate..”

“Through wonderful dice rolling (three consecutive sixes), the confederates manage to gain help from another unit which enters the table to press the attack.“

“Over on the Bolt Action Table the Germans press their advance hard!”

“Despite some setbacks the the confederates continue to push forward!”
“With the Rebels closing the Valiant Missouri defenders quite the field having bloodied Johnny Reb for his assault tomorrow!”

“Our Bolt Action Table is a pretty close game, with the Germans holding the objective/“
Thanks to Andrew for the photos and write up these are always engaging. A Thank You to all the players who came out to enjoy a fun evening of gaming. As always we extend our ongoing appreciation to Game Nite for their continued support.

Big Muddy Historical Game Alliance of Greater St. Louis
Our public educational demonstrations including rules and game evaluation sessions use historical miniature and historical board gaming to explore military history, historical decision-making, and the people, places, and events of the past.
Historical Gaming in Action is a public educational program presented by the Big Muddy Historical Game Alliance of Greater St. Louis.
Using miniature figures, terrain, maps, historical research, and guided play, our games explore military history through the decisions faced by commanders, soldiers, and communities. Visitors can examine the table, ask questions, learn about the historical setting, and—when space and time permit—join the game.
Our scenarios are based on historical sources. While game rules simplify some details for practical play, each event is designed to encourage discussion of historical events, geography, leadership, logistics, strategy, and the human experience of conflict.
Historical gaming can be both enjoyable and educational. Big Muddy provides public educational demonstrations, seminars, and convention programming that promote historical miniature gaming and military history.
