Tuesday Night Gaming 05/13/25 “Somewhere in the Shenandoah Valley” 2mm ACW

Andrew brought out his large armies of tiny troopers and a hypothetical scenario to give us a run through of the Live Free or Die rule set switched from its normal AWI focus to the American Civil War this Tuesday evening at Game Nite.

Team Union (Aaron & Kevin) with 3 Brigades were directed to push forward with the goal of exiting one of the roads currently held by the Rebel’s 2 Brigades (Dave & Patrick) .

Rebel Regiments deployed to defend the road.

The Players setting up with the Union coming onto the field in column formation. This scale of troops gives a great feel for overlooking the small battlefield map. It also provides a small footprint for both storage and transport.

The Union and Confederate Cavalry on the Union Left/Confederate Right get into action early on in the game. The hoped plan by the Union players for a quick breakthrough however failed to materialize and it became a slugfest.

The Rebels had moved forward towards the small hills in the center as the Union dispatched 1 Brigade in a hoped sweep to the right around the woods.

A Rebel Regiment volley fired as noted by the white pipecleaner.

A bird-eyes view of the action on the Union Right as regiments exchanged volleys with the Rebels striking home to great effect. The red dice recording the number of DMZ’s that each sustained in the just completed round. Across the stream the cavalry action continues in progress.

The game ended with a Rebel Victory as the Union were unable to generate enough momentum to force the Confederates back. Thanks to Andrew for putting on such an interesting game, with an easy to learn, yet challenging to master rule set. Thanks to the Players for jumping in to give this all a good run through and of course our Thanks to Game Nite for their continued support.
