Wednesday Night saw the roll out of an old favorite “Full Thrust” combat in deep space to a sizable crowd. The game run by Adam Jones at Fantasy Books & Games in O’Fallon, IL. Is happily also narrated by him in our report with a photo by Steve Lowry to compliment the activity. As Steve was only able to grab one picture for the evening (being busy running his group of ships) we have added a few from a previous outing to add a little visual appeal to Adam’s description.

“After Action Report for Wednesday night Full Thrust game at Fantasy Books and Games”
“The Terran Federation task force was on routine patrol along the edge of known space. The task force consisted of two heavy cruisers(TFS Sentinel TFS Guardian) of the Sentinel Class armed with four Class 2 Phasers and 2 short-ranged pulse torpedoes and six destroyers (TFS Artemis, TFS Athena, TFS Ares, TFS Atlas, TFS Phobos, TFS Thanatus) of the Artemis Class armed with three Class 1 Phasers and one short-ranged pulse torpedo. The patrol has been very quiet so far with nothing to spark any interest…until now!”
“The xenophobic Rigellian Protectorate have been pushing the boundaries of their controlled space for centuries. Any civilization that the Rigellians came across were immediately attacked and wiped out. This extermination pod was sent to check a previously unexplored sector. The pod consisted of two cruiser sized vessels (RSV Chukudu Tsani, RSV Chukudu Kambo) armed with two Class 2 heavy grazer beam emitters and a repeating beam battery and six destroyer sized vessels (RSV Dajamma, RSV Baigo, RSV Adjakantu, RSV Cakanja, RSV Fagammo, RSV Timbedra) armed with two Class 1 heavy grazer beam emitters and 1 repeating beam battery. Just as the pod entered the sector, unknown vessels were detected. Battle stations was called and the Rigellians accelerated toward the new threat.”
“The Terrans detected the approaching vessels and began to maneuver to respond. These unknown vessels were winged ships with rudders. The ships were streamlined to fly in an atmosphere and carried their oversized main weapons on each wing. The thrust drive and shield signatures of the vessels were unlike anything seen before. The cruiser sized vessels were approaching at unusually high speed for their size. The destroyer sized vessels seemed to be the same speed as our own destroyers, The Terran commodore did note that the unknown vessels were not using any formations, The ships were scattered haphazardly across the front, and each ship seemed to be flying on their own. The Terran commodore formed two formations of three destroyers, placing one to the right of the task force and the other to the left. Behind each of the two destroyer formations, the two heavy cruisers were deployed to follow their respective destroyers and add their firepower if needed.”
“The Rigellian cruiser RSV Chukudu Tsani, along with three destroyers (RSV Djamma, RSV Baigo & RSV Adjakantu) accelerated toward the left Terran destroyer formation. The cruiser rang up full speed and accelerated away from the surprised destroyers. The Chukudu Tsani fired at the Terran destroyers with no effect. The Rigelian cruiser deaccelerated and began to turn to get all weapons to bear on the Terran destroyers but the combination of speed and turning left the Chukudu without and targets to the front bearing weapons as the Terrans slid past the Rigelian cruiser and poured phaser fire from the side and rear. The Terran CA Sentinel also closed into range with their Class 2 phasers and added their fire to the attack. The volume of fire was too much for the Chukudu Tsani and she was destroyed.”
“The left behind destroyers arrived in time to see the Chukudu Tsani destroyed. The loss did not deter the destroyers as RSV Djamma and RSV Baigo waded into the scrum around the Rigelian cruiser while the RSV Adjakantu turned on the CA TFS Sentinel. RSV Baigo faced off with TFS Artemis with all of her weapons. TFS Artemis was smothered by heavy grazer beams and multiple gatling beam hits and was destroyed. The Terrans did hit back as TFS Athena savaged the RSV Baigo but failed to destroy her. RSV Baigo streaked through the fight and headed away severely damaged and streaming atmosphere. TFS Ares engaged the RSV Djamma and destroyed her. RSV Adjakantu fired at the TFS Sentinel with no hits. Hearing the results of the destroyer scrum of her wing mates, RSV Adjakantu turned and streaked away from the fight”
“TFS Guardian and her destroyer escorts maneuvered toward the other cruiser sized Rigelian vessel RSV Chukudu Kambo. The Rigelian cruiser also ignored her destroyers and separated to fight alone Unlike her sister shipi, the Chukudu Kambo approached more slowly and took aim at the Terran cruiser The Rigelian destroyers swiftly engaged the Terran destroyers. TFS Atlas engaged and destroyed RSV Cakanja, but not before Cakanja destroyed TFS Phobos. TFS Thanatus engaged and damaged RSV Timbedra which disengaged away. RSV Fagammo failed to hit anything and accompanied RSV Timbedra away from the fight. TFS Guardian along with TFS Thanatus and TFS Atlas turned on the RSV Chukudu Kambo. This time, the Terrans were able to utilize their powerful pulse torpedoes. The torpedoes normally are not affected by shields that the Terrans have encountered with other races. The Rigelian shields, however, seem to absorb some of the damage power of the torpedo hit. This benefit only delayed the inevitable. While the RSV Chukudu Kambo did manage to hit the TFS Guardian and inflict damage, the combined firepower of the Terran cruiser and two destroyers doomed the RSV Chukudu Kambo.”
“The remaining Rigellians were disengaging. The Terran commodore chose not to pursue. It was more important to salvage the Rigelian wrecks and learn about their newly discovered neighbors.”
“The Rigelian survivors straggled back to base to report that for the first time in centuries, they were defeated in combat!”
