It was a high flyin’ night at Fantasy Books & Games with the crowd enjoying a spin around the table using Dave Murvihill’s Wacky Airplanes. Dave was kind enough to send in this report which just arrived by carrier pigeon from the front lines so we will turn it over to him for the game description….

AP LONDON: DAWN PATROL DESCENDS INTO “GRACEFUL DANCE OF DEATH”
“FRONT LINE — The opening aerial engagement of the Freedonia-Sylvania War erupted this morning as dawn patrols from both nations clashed over the front lines. To the infantry entrenched below, the skirmish appeared as a “graceful dance of death” as six aircraft swirled in a chaotic, high-altitude ballet.”
“The results of the engagement were decidedly mixed for both air corps:”
- Freedonia: Lieutenants Snoopy and Snidely successfully returned to base, though both were wounded in the fray.
- Sylvania: Two of the three Sylvanian aircraft, piloted by Radagast and Dr. Death, returned heavily damaged.
- The Casualty: The third Sylvanian pilot, Sir Crashalot (Ray Gluck), was less fortunate. His aircraft entered a terminal spiral following devastating hits that killed his henchman and shredded his parachute.

“Refusing to let the engine be “the last thing to go through his head,”
“Sir Crashalot“
“leaped from the flaming wreckage, trusting his life to a free fall. Hours later, a Freedonian patrol discovered his broken form. As they struggled to maneuver his mangled body onto a stretcher, the pilot reportedly rolled over and dryly inquired if anyone had brought any Chablis.”
Diplomatic Fallout and “Heroism”
“The survival of “
“Sir Crashalot”
“has triggered a wave of bizarre state reactions. King Ravioli officially declared the pilot “Sylvania’s First Hero,” personally delivering a sausage casserole to the airman’s mistress.”
“In Freedonia, President “”
“Rufus T. Firefly”
“—noted for his trademark cigar and cynical leadership—refused to be outdone. He dispatched a box of cheap cigars to the hospital where “
“Sir Crashalot”
“is recovering. Furthermore, President Firefly issued a formal letter of commendation to “

“Wiggles and Bigsby”
“, whose ornithopter was officially credited with the Sylvanian shoot-down.”

“Game Designer’s Notes”
“I had a great time during Wednesday’s session. For the most part, the rules functioned exactly as intended, though the damage table requires minor tweaking before the next round. I look forward to our next encounter sooner rather than later.”
“Pilot Updates:”
- All active pilots (except for Ray G.) may set their Control to 5.
- Tom receives a free bonus to his Elemental Avoidance Unit.

Thanks Dave for the hilarious narrative describing what was certainly a fun night of gaming at Fantasy Books & Games. Thanks to all the players and our appreciation to the fine staff at Fantasy Books & Games for their continued support.
