Wednesday Night Gaming 01/22/24 Battle of St. Louis

The American Revolution took to the table at Fantasy Books & Games in O’Fallon, IL for our Wednesday Night Gaming with a portrayal of some local history. The Battle of St. Louis May 26, 1780 as British Native American Allies fell upon the settlement in Spanish held territory.

Using Fistful of Lead Bigger Battles rules Steve Lowry crafted a scenario assuming that the British forces moved upon the town’s significant defenses. Historically the Native forces had been led to believe that this was going to be a simple affair and were rather surprised to see the trench lines, fort and artillery well emplaced.

The game allowed for the attackers to rush the San Carlos tower and get under the field of fire of the heavy guns on its roof. The Native American player took full advantage of this and pushed into what was a blind spot.

Losses were heavy for the attackers as the defenders moved to the works.

Swivels have fired noted by the cotton balls, but the determined attackers are now inside the works and things are looking grim for the defenders.

In the end a tough battle fought that went to the British, but one that was very costly in the process of achieving. Thanks to Steve, the players and the fine staff at Fantasy Books & Games for a great evening of gaming.
