Steve Lowry presented The Battle of New Orleans 1815 in 54mm for our Thursday group at Miniature Market Cave Springs and it was a slug fest for both sides. Rules for the day were Fistful of Lead Bigger Battles by Wiley Games.
Mark W and Pat L took the British command while Steve T and Kevin F dug just a little deeper behind the walls looking for cover as the American commanders.
Steve modified the historical situation somewhat in order to give the British a better chance than they historically had at the battle. One of those mods was to allow each stand to have scaling ladders that would allow them to avoid penalties when they hit the moat in front of the defenses. Carrying the ladders did come at a cost of reduced firepower from the units as they advanced.
The defenders had some potent artillery to help thin the British ranks which they put to good use.

The table shows that the British attack has reached the walls and troops are going over. Things for the team wearing redcoats do seem to have gotten a little ragged in the approach as units received fire from the defenders.

The attackers did breach the walls and gave the defenders some real challenges as they broke through, but as the losses mounted on both sides the pendulum swung just enough in favor of the Americans to give them the win. With the war concluded by a peace treaty the game ended.
