This Tuesday the assembled gathering found the tables at Game Nite filled with some great table top miniatures with two Bolt Action games and a trip back to ancient times with War Galley.

Bolt Action saw a US vs German Table with the other some Brits vs the German. Both featured some great looking terrain and painted miniatures showing of the talents of the members of our gaming community. It was fun night of moving figs and rolling dice.

Not a good night to be drinking a half track……

Our War Galley learn the rules game took players out of the normal dice rolling, check the dice mods then the charts to get a resolution replacing that with dropping match sticks from a 6 inch (1 Big Muddy bookmark/ruler) height to find out your combat tally or ranged fire. This created some real thinking on the part of our players (Todd R, .Andrew B, Pat L, Tim L and Mark J)

Players found that being in close and presenting a broadside added to their missile fire effects, but that also exposed them to becoming a target for being rammed which happened on more than one occasion.

Writing orders, then executing them by action phases added to the fog of war for the players. They could move, fire or reorganize (move an rower to the other side of the ship) as they chose but were limited in all by how they had designed their vessel.

Can’t shoot more times than masts available and can’t move more than the number of oars on the lesser side. Soon with battle damage incurred ships became less efficient fighting machines.

War Galley is a fast playing set of rules great for a quick round of gaming. Anyone wishing a set of these FREE rules should contact info@bmhga.com and we will get one out to you.

Thanks to all the players who made it by to roll dice. Thanks to Game Nitel for their continued support.
