It was a challenging game of Black Powder in 10mm this week presented by Patrick Connaugthon at Game Nite which offered both players (Andrew B as the British & Kevin F as the Mahdis) a moving puzzle to be solved.
The goal of the British was simply to escort a slow moving supply wagon train across the rather open terrain of the parched desert. The Mahdis forces were there just to create as much havoc as they could. and they made it their goal to do just that.
Above Andrew looks over the field as Patrick explains his mission.
Early in the game the British cavalry encountered some Mahdi Camel mounted forces and immediately moved to engage. with a charge as seen below.
On the other flank of the slow moving column some fast moving Mahdi’s made broke through an infantry screen temporarily giving the British howitzer crew some entertainment.
The high water mark of the Mahdi attack saw the last reserves looking straight down the supply column just about ready to pounce.
Andrew adeptly responded to the threat and two rounds of volley fire put an end to the Mahdi’s dreams of looting the supplies.
Thanks to Patrick for a fun evening and to the fine staff at Game Nite for their support. Be sure to check the calendar and watch our Facebook page for the Weekly Gaming Update to get in on our fun evenings and afternoons.
Sad I couldn’t make it Tuesday night but will try to be at the next one.
Look forward to you joining us!
