The group continues to prepare for the upcoming Cahokia Game Day at the St. Charles County Heritage Museum and week we held a run through/critique session of Cahokia Farmstead for the Tuesday Night Action.

Tuesday Night at Game Nite on Watson Road Cahokia Farmstead was presented with Andrew B (Patriots) and Kevin F (Chippewa) taking part. Rules were Fistful of Lead Horse & Musket by Wiley Games and this went down to the wire. At Andrew’s earlier suggestion in order to achieve a more historical flavor & improved balance. The Chippewas used the FFoL rabble rule. Each group of 4 or 5 operated on one card rather than one per figure, this helped speed the game up, but the rule also reduces the figure’s stamina to just one wound before departing the game table. We found that this combined with using a D8 rather than D10 for combat reflected the brittleness of the Native American forces and their reluctance to accept casualties. They had been told that Cahokia would be a walkover by their British employers and that simply was not the case historically.
Andrew’s use of the two unarmed farm hands caught out in the fields initially to attack rather than simply run for the hills also served to break up the Chippewa plan to fall upon the farm quickly. He also didn’t hesitate to come out of defensive positions to attack the closing Native American’s as we see below.

In the end, it all came down to who got the first move card with both forces badly depleted and in the end the Patriots were victorious holding the farm by just a thread (and one figure).

A good game and a good run through for the scenario. Thanks to the folks at Game Nite for their support.
