Semi Regular Retirees Game 03/20/25 Tripods & Triplanes

This was our second outing with this game as we attempt to become more familiar with this variant of the Wings of Glory World War I system. Our Thursday game setting provided a very relaxed opportunity to allow us to get these great looking miniatures on the table at Miniature Market Cave Springs.

Steve took on the role of Martian invader with the objective to destroy the four buildings in the center of the board. Pat, Mark & Greg were climbing to altitude in their canvas covered steeds of the air hoping to stop the alien before he did too much damage.

In game one, Mark’s Triplane moves in while Greg’s two seater gets up close for a look at the opponent. Steve made judicious use of the Martian’s smoke generator, much to the dismay of the pilots, but game one went to the brave young airmen with a lucky hit from a “boom” card that just tipped the scales on tripod damage.

Game Two saw an upgraded Tripod out to face off against the pesky airplanes who just wouldn’t leave it alone and kept interfering in its glorious mission.

Steve scored some much better cards to damage his opponents in game two taking out three total airplanes trying to interrupt his raid and getting in position to destroy 3 of the four objectives.

Greg was able to get off a rare shot with both of his guns on one occasion doing a little damage but ended up with both of them jammed for his efforts.

Overall another fun day of gaming with a split victory of one game to each side. We will certainly be seeing Tripods & Triplanes back on the game table as everyone enjoyed the day in this alternate historical era. We were also very pleased to have Jim Long from Ares Games stop by and join us for some discussions about the game and what we might be seeing in the future. We look forward to a continued relationship with Jim & Ares Games for some games at our upcoming events.

Thanks to the fine folks at Miniature Market Cave Springs for their continued support and to all the players for our little Thursday adventure. Be sure to check the calendar on this site for upcoming weekly and monthly games across our metro area.
