Gathering at Miniature Market Rock Hill our hearty crew got busy with a jumbo boardgame version of The Battle of St. Louis in preparation for our upcoming May Game Day West (Saturday 05/03/25 10am to 4pm) at the St. Charles Heritage Museum.

The Spanish defenders (Mark W and Harry B) were pitted against the determined British Native American Allies (Dave B and Steve T) as they pursued their instructions from Detroit to wrest control of St. Louis and its control of the Mississippi River for the benefit of the Crown. Above you will see the British forces moving in quickly from the North to capture the settlement.

On Turn Two the Tribes hit hard in a coordinated attack on the narrow Northern entrenchments, hoping to make a breakthrough before the Spanish defenders could reset their forces from the Southern end of the battlements.

Defensive fire in the form of musketry and cannonade tried hard to dissuade the attackers but luck was not in the favor of the defenders.

Several turns of battle took a heavy toll on the defenders adding in the early loss of two important artillery pieces, which weakened the defensive perimeter. Above these disrupted units have fallen back hoping to recover and return to the fray.

In the end the battle went to the defenders who held the line against a withering British attack force. The Native Americans fell back having taken too many casualties from their ranks to make the day worthwhile. A sigh of relief was heard in the Mansion of the Spanish Governor as the evening fell upon the small village.
Thanks to all the players for their help in getting this game ready for our upcoming event, Thanks to Pat Lewis for his superb gaming terrain and of course our Thanks to Nick and the folks at Miniature Market Rock Hill for their continued support.

Be sure to join us on Saturday May 3, 2025 10am to 4pm at the St. Charles County Heritage Museum for our May Game Day West featuring the Battle of St. Louis.
