As many folks know July is Shark month, declared by some TV network several years ago likely to boost ratings in the Summer doldrums of viewership. Taking this to a bit of an extreme the Sharknado apocalyptic comedy sci-fi spoofs were born, which they in themselves then developed a bit of a cult following. So it is in the spirt of the Hollywood Science Fiction Comedy Spoof that we proceeded to game out this “historically accurate” scenario presented by Ray & Steffan Gluck using Fistful of Lead rules by Wiley Games.

Ray and Steffan brought their “A” game terrain as they represented the beachfront community of Floridaville which was about to be set upon by the great calamity. Above we see the Sharknado moving onto the beach, the local police have blocked the beachhead and our teams of heroes area assembled to face the impending crisis.

The Sharknado comes ashore near the newsstand in the center of the board with tourists still on the beach.

The great storm spawned sharks aplenty as it spun wildly. Soon the tourists would face great danger.

Even the lifeguards have taken off for the hills.

A final briefing from Ray to the players.

The local TV station crew does a live shot on the beach.

An ambulance pulled up in front of the beach hotel. Wounded figures that could make it to the ambulance would receive medical treatment and have a wound removed.

Team Finn prepares to move into the fray, chainsaw at the ready. Each team included a local Florida Man or Woman who while supportive of the team had a tendency (scenario rules) to wander off in random directions.

A planned stroll on the beach turned into something far, far different than anticipated.

Sharks came in randomly, being spun off the Sharknado and would attack any figure within 6 inches.

Feet don’t fail me now………

The players move towards the police cars to get flares and then to other locations to pick up propane tanks. Combining these two elements they are able to assemble a device that will with a bit of luck unwind the Sharknado and bring the terror to Floridaville to an end.

Even knowing it was National Ice Cream Day, Ray would only offer the players the benefit of using the soft serve truck as a screen from the oncoming sharks. Here we see a beach walker who was wounded and shocked taking cover behind the cold treat truck.

Team Finn racked up the sharks as it battled its way towards the beach.

The game ending move by Rich S who having assembled a propane device was able to hurl it accurately into the base of the Sharknado and bring the game to an end. As we can see his actions were a bit too late for one tourist who met their end.

Thanks to Ray & Steffan for their imaginative and “historically accurate” game that was simply a hoot to play. Thanks to all the players Craig, Rich, Steve & Kevin who jumped in the deep end to save Floridaville from this menace. Thanks also to the fine folks at Impact Games Center for their continued support.
