Big Muddy Historical Gaming Alliance – St. Louis November Game Day 11/01/25 West Brigade on Brigade 28mm American Civil War

There was a nice crowd coming together for our November Game Day West at Miniature Market Retail Superstore Rock Hill as we took a trip back to the 1860s and the American Civil War.

The first of our three games filled up quickly as it was an offering by Dave Schaffner who who presented a Brigade on Brigade action in 28mm.

As we know they are always a sight to behold with splendid looking miniatures……

……and superbly crafted terrain.

Dave also took on the role of chief historical instructor today as part of our “History Through Another Lens” Initiative found two St. Charles Community College students joining us as an extra credit opportunity for their course work.

Other members joined in as coaches for the students.

Dave was careful to be sure that all the players had a full understanding of the nuances of the “Muskets & Tomahawks” rules as they were modified for the ACW Era.

Dave sent is a brief summary of the day’s actions so we will let him tell the story…..

Terrific fun this Saturday!

“Saturday was all-American-ACW action, and the shop’s game area was packed.  My presentation got the 28s out on a mirror-style game board, where the players went forward in a grudge match of single infantry brigades fighting ‘across a deadly field’ (for basic, fundamental ACW battlin’).  We were also graced with the presence of two local college students, who commanded Confederate regiments in the fight, but In the end, our Union team bested out the Rebs, just barely……this time.

Dave”

Thanks Dave for the great pics and AAR of your superbly crafted game. It was a great boon for our ACW Themed Game Day and certainly a challenging but enjoyable day for all the got a chance to play or to witness.

Our Thanks to all the players that made it out to our November ACW Game Day and a special Thanks to The fine Staff of Miniature Market Rock Hill for their continued support.
