Big Muddy Historical Gaming Alliance – St. Louis November Game Day East 11/16/15 Arctic Thunder….

Les Hostetler & Tom Vielott teamed up for a trip to the snow covered fields of WWII Finland as we found a plane carrying an American Intelligence Officer down in the snow.

They say that any landing you can walk away from is a good one and this was the case for the fortunate American Officer and happily Soviet troops were near enough to mount a rescue mission. Now just a simple walk across the snow to the warm confines of a Russian headquarters.

And it was a good plan…… with just one minor little wrinkle.

It seems the noise of the plane crash caught the attention of some Finnish Ice Trolls that were out shopping for lunch.

Tom using a modified version of The Sword & The Flame for this game gave the players several challenges as the Ice Trolls had a random deployment creating a great deal of panic in the Soviet rear.

The terrain that Les created gives you a real winter wonderland feel.

The Russians are rushin’ trying to get away from the hulking monsters with plans on inviting them for dinner as the main course.

The Ice Troll King engages the KV1 while his minions set upon the supporting infantry in the center. Off to the left we see more Trolls engaging an infantry group in a shell hole.

The KV-1 inflicted some serious damage on the Troll King and his supporting cast, but Russian losses were mounting.

The Troll King had just about had enough of this pesky tank and called in some support to dispatch it once and for all.

In the end the day went to the Soviets as they were able to exit a drastically reduced force with the American Officer. The Troll players did claim a partial victory as they were able to enjoy a tasty afternoon repast thanks to the Soviet Army.

Thanks to Les and Tom for a fun afternoon in the snow filled Arctic. Thanks to all the players and of course a Big Thank You to the folks at Impact Game Center for their continued support.
