Meet author Stephen L. Kling, Jr. as he presents his newest book, co-authored with Kristine L. Sjostrom, examining one of the least-known but most important campaigns of the American Revolution.
The 1779 Mississippi River Campaign led by Bernardo de Gálvez secured Spain’s frontier, protected the vital Mississippi River supply route, and laid the groundwork for the later victories at Mobile and Pensacola. Despite limited resources, difficult terrain, challenging weather, and the constant threat of larger British forces, Gálvez captured multiple British forts and hundreds of prisoners while suffering remarkably few casualties.
This fascinating presentation explores why this brilliantly executed campaign deserves far greater recognition in Revolutionary War history.
