Our Tuesday group had a lot of new faces this week as the gaming evening at Game Nite continues to grow in popularity. The fare for the evening included a selection by Warlord games with those offerings being the ever popular Bolt Action and another learning game of the SPQR system for ancient gaming.
Andrew was kind enough to send in some photos and a report of the activities so we will turn the story telling over to him……

“First Bolt Action is Germans vs Americans with player who’s recently purchased a starter army and wanted to learn to play as he gets it painted up!. “
“Second is British and Germans with two new players. John provided figures as the players learned the system.”
“Table Three’s game was SPQR with Britons vs Samaritans in a convoy raid.”
“The Samaritans horse archers are wiped out to a man after the cataphracts give the Briton tribesmen the same treatment. “
“The Druid stands alone challenging the cataphract leader to a duel, which ends up not going well, going down on the point of a kontos! ”
“Table Two was a narrow British Victory.”
“The Germans and Americans continue to fight.”

Historical Gaming in Action is a public educational program presented by the Big Muddy Historical Game Alliance of Greater St. Louis.
Using miniature figures, terrain, maps, historical research, and guided play, our games explore military history through the decisions faced by commanders, soldiers, and communities. Visitors can examine the table, ask questions, learn about the historical setting, and—when space and time permit—join the game.
Our scenarios are based on historical sources. While game rules simplify some details for practical play, each event is designed to encourage discussion of historical events, geography, leadership, logistics, strategy, and the human experience of conflict.
Historical gaming can be both enjoyable and educational. Big Muddy provides public educational demonstrations, seminars, and convention programming that promote historical miniature gaming and military history.
