Game Day West / Command Con Lite

Saturday, November 7 | 10:00 AM–4:00 PM

Miniature Market – Rock Hill
9755 Manchester Rd, St. Louis, MO 63119

Spend Saturday exploring history across the gaming table! Our lineup features Civil War infantry and ironclads, a double-blind campaign for Sicily, an eighteenth-century Highland charge, and a clash of heavy tanks.

Session One — Setup at 10:00 AM; Games Begin at 10:30 AM

Table One — Gettysburg Morning

GM: Dave Schaffner
Miniatures: Warlord’s Epic 13.5mm
Players: 4

Heth’s Confederate Division has deployed astride the Chambersburg Pike after pushing Union cavalry beyond the ridge ahead. Now the fight for Herbst Woods and McPherson’s Ridge begins!

Play this iconic action on a new, custom-made battlefield mat displaying the important fences and terrain features. Can you make the most of the ground as the battle unfolds?

Table Two — Ironclads: Hampton Roads 2.0

GM: Gregg Dieckhaus
Rules: Home brew
Miniatures: 1/900 scale
Players: 6

The Union attempts to move a force up the James River toward Richmond, and the Confederates must stop it. USS Monitor and CSS Virginia get a rematch in this naval showdown. Take command and see which side can control the river!

Table Three — Invasion of Sicily

GM: Mark Lueckenhoff
Game: George Knapp Games; highly modified and expanded
Players: 2–5

Command the air, land, and naval forces of Italy, Germany, Great Britain, and the United States in a double-blind strategic game. Each side uses its own three-dimensional map of Sicily, courtesy of Pat Lewis, screened from its opponents’ view.

Playing pieces generally represent brigades, and each turn covers approximately four days of combat. Roads, supply lines, and incomplete information shape every decision: players receive information about opposing units only after engaging them.

Axis forces must delay the advance, inflict losses, and work toward evacuation from Messina. The Allies must cut them off and capture that ultimate prize—all while competing with their own ally for success!

Table Five — Chariot Race: Enlarged and Enhanced

Available if needed
GM: Kevin Fitzpatrick

Take the reins for a two-lap race through an ancient Roman arena! Balance speed against the condition of your chariot, change lanes, and decide when to press your luck.

Earn Fortuna’s favor, repair damage, and contend with rivals armed with javelins and caltrops. Crossing the finish line first is the goal—but keeping your chariot together may be the real challenge!

Session BreakL Join us for a chili luncheon by the SoupHouse.org and a very brief Annual Membership Meeting.

Session Two — Start Time to Be Announced

Conflict at Culloden

GM: Burt Campbell
Rules: Claymore & Cannon, an original home-brew ruleset
Miniatures: 18mm Wofun
Players: 2–8

Government redcoats and artillery hold the line against a desperate Highland charge in this historically researched scenario from the Jacobite Rising.

Using an original ruleset designed for eighteenth-century warfare, players will put battlefield leadership to the test. The fate of the Highland army is in your hands!

Clash of Giants

GM: David Paul Harrison
Rules: Tank on Tank Eastern Front — home-brew listing
Miniatures: 1/285 Micro Armour
Players: 2–6

This scenario places players at Oględów, Poland, on August 11, 1944. The German 16th Panzer Division, reinforced by the 501st Heavy Panzer Battalion, attacks the Soviet 53rd Guards Tank Brigade, supported by the 71st Independent Guards Heavy Tank Regiment.

German Tiger II and Soviet JS II heavy tanks take center stage. Command these armored giants and see whether your battlefield decisions can tip the balance.

Come Game With Us!

From a casual Tuesday evening to Saturday’s historical showcase, there are plenty of ways to join the fun. Experienced players, newcomers, and visitors are all welcome to observe, ask questions, and participate.
