Semi Regular Retirees Game 09/26/24 Iwo Jima

Pat Lewis gave us another look at his Iwo Jima game this week with a few modifications based upon previous play throughs.

Steve L, Tom S and Steve T took on the American forces commands while Mark W and Kevin F dug in as the Imperial Japanese forces to await the coming bombardment. There was not long a wait before the combined fire of the offshore fleet and aircraft made their presence known. Steve L’s experience having played before shown through as he directed the offshore fire support to great effect, concentrating on limited sectors to simply overwhelm the defenses destroying caves, bunkers and in a few cases units before they had any chance to do much of anything.

Above the initial Imperial Japanese Army deployment.

A look at the superb game map created by Pat Lewis who is a master of terrain builds.

Later in the game as the US forces roll up the right flank of the defenders. By keeping their attacks coordinated the US gave the Japanese few opportunities to do an end around.

Overall a great game and fun time. With this battle chalked up as a win for the USMC.

Thanks to Pat, the players and those who stopped by. We also Thank Miniature Market Cave Springs and the fine staff for their support.
