Semi Regular Retirees Game 11/13/25 All Quiet on The Martian Front & Cahokia Farm

Two games were full of action today at Miniature Market Cave Springs as our Thursday Afternoon group gathered to match wits with each other in two challenging games.

First up was a team effort by Greg Dieckhaus & Pat Lewis as they presented an “All Quiet on The Martian Front” scenario. This popular game system filled up quickly with players Steve T, Steve L, Jules R and Mark J.

A straightforward game of an assault by human forces against a well entrenched Martian defense position. But the humans came to play and brought some heavy gear along to support their efforts.

And it looks to be just a verrrrrry long way from starting points to the other side of the Marian entrenchments.

The Martian side was not exactly unprepared for the coming event…

Not a good day to be riding in a tank as a Marian Heat Ray warms things up for the crews.

The game ended in a Martian victory as the human forces try as they might just couldn’t put the pieces together today. There will be another game, another time…..

Our second game was a run through Cahokia Farmstead using “One Hour Skirmish Wargame Rules.”

This represents a slice of the battle that occurred on 26 May 1780 as Native Americans in the employ of British forces descended upon what is now Cahokia Heights, IL during the American War of Independence.

The Native Americans start near Rigolet Stream and must cross a generally open field to attack the fam then proceed off the map towards their main objective Cahokia.

The farm was defended by a mix of civilians, local militia and George Rogers Clark Virginia Regiment. This force smaller in number had the advantage of holding a small barn and rock wall.

As this is a fast playing set of rules, we were able to get in two practice games with no difficulty. The dice-less system relies on cards to resolve combat and provide the players with their action points each round. The first game saw things go very poorly for the settlers and was a British Victory, the second game saw the reverse with the Native American forces completely eliminated.

This game will be presented next week as part of our “History Through A Different Lens” Initiative when it is presented at a local college history class.

Thanks to all the GMs, Players and to Miniature Market Cave Springs for their connoted support.
