Wednesday Night Gaming 12/10/25 Galactic Heroes

It was off to the world of Science Fiction for the Wednesday Night Crowd as they gathered at Fantasy Books & Games in O’Fallon, IL this week. Adam Jones presented a Star War Raid Game using Fistful of Lead Rules. Adam was kind enough to send along both a description of the events and some great photos so those who were there and those who could not be can get a view of the action.

“Pic 1 shows the overall layout of the board. From left to right; Me, John Hoffman, Craig Shumaker, Ray Runge, Mike Conner. The legs and hands are Ray Gluck and not pictured is Chuck Hanson. John H., Craig S., & Ray R. were the Rebel Alliance with each player having a 4-man team and one droid attached to a single figure of the team. The rebels have to get the droid with the important info to the shuttle landing pad (the gray sheet of paper with the light circle and crossed lines.  The Rebels wrote down which of the three droids (1 R2 unit(blue)),1 R5 unit(red)), & 1 GR NT astromech(gray two-legged unit)) carried the info. The ID of the info droid would be revealed at the end of the game or when the info droid reached the landing pad. John H. set up to his right. Craig S set up in the middle with John H team to Craigs right. Ray R set up to Craigs left. The Rebels basically had a long skirmish line. The Storm troopers entered the board with Mike C entering on the corner where he is pictured. Ray G entered his team in the center. Chuck H entered on the opposite corner of Mike C.”

“Pic 2 shows Ray R single figure with the attached droid skirting past Mike C stormtroopers. Ray R made a beeline through a large patch of heavy woods in an attempt to outflank Mike C, whose stormtroopers rushed to positions on Ray R right.  Ray and Mike exchanged fire with Ray taking 3 casualties and Mike taking a number of wounds and shaken results. Ray did keep the figure with the droid out of the line of fire and after the blaster fight was over, Ray sprinted the figure with the droid passed the shaken and wounded stormtroopers of Mike C. The shaken and wounds slowed down Mikes troopers such as they would be unable to catch him and making his weapons fire less effective.”

“Pic 3 John H and Craig S formed their two teams up together and swung to the right, pushing through a patch of heavy woods, and heading for the shuttle pad as Chuck H storm troopers moved toward them. Both sides took up positions at the edge of heavy woods and exchanged blaster fire. The Rebels did have a grenade launcher that for the most part was not a factor in the exchange.  Eventually, the combined firepower began to take their toll on Chucks troopers with one KIA and two shaken results while Craig & John suffered no casualties at all. Also, at the top middle of Pic 3 shows the beginning of the close combat between Craig’s reptilian trooper and Chuck’s stormtrooper. Craig got impatient with the perceived ineffectiveness of the blaster fire and sent his one reptilian Rebel trooper charging across the open area and entered into close combat with one of Chuck H stormtrooper.  The Rebel trooper had a special close combat trait called “Venom”. The trooper spits venom at his opponent. If it hits, the venom causes one automatic wound per turn until the victim can roll for a recovery to stop the venom.  Alas, the reptilian trooper never succeeded in hitting with the venom. The reptilian trooper did manage to hold off the initial stormtrooper plus a second one sent in by Ray G. Pic 4 shows the three troopers at the top middle of Pic 4 with both stormtroopers and the Rebel reptile on the ground wounded but continuing to fight with their legs.”

“Pic 4 also shows two of John H’s Rebel troopers with the R5 droid attached poised to sprint to the shuttle pad.”

“It was at this point; we called the game with the Rebels winning as the R5 droid has the important info and there were no effective Imperial stormtroopers to prevent the move to the shuttle pad.”

“Thanks to all of the players for participating. \Special note to Ray Gluck for assisting me in running my first Fistful of Lead-Galactic Heros and providing transportation.”

Thanks Adam for providing a fun game with some great looking figs for all to enjoy. Thanks to all the players and our appreciation to the fine folks at Fantasy Books & Games for their continued support.
