Dave Schaffner put on yet another one of his wonderful games for us at out July Game Day at Miniature Market Cave Springs. A superbly crafted scenario with all the excellent trappings that we can always count on Dave to treat us with at each and every one of his games. So let’s look at the great photos and listen to Dave weave the story of the day’s action…….
“At this past Sunday’s Big Muddy Game Day, I ran my Brigade vs. Brigade ACW setup again. Mark Williams, Steve Lowry, and Bob Alsop all played, and really achieved quite the barn-burner.“
“The action culminated in a charge sequence from across a deadly field, into and over a defended fence line, and then by a spirited defense to fend off a Confederate cavalry counterattack too.“
“The Union brigade, two-regiments deep, a mix of green and veteran formations, approached the Rebel position in fairly good order, although suffering under near-constant enemy fire on it’s journey across a deadly field.“
“Making a passage of lines, with the veteran regiments coming up from behind, the 5th NY Zouaves then took the lead on the right with fixed bayonets, and soon began a charge into storied glory – or unknown “gory” as it may.“
“The results turned out to be a classic tabletop action, and one for the books –“
Thanks Dave for running this superlative scenario and we look forward to the next time these boys march out of barracks and onto the game table.
Thanks also to the superb staff at Miniature Market Cave Springs for their support.
