It was a twofer at the Semi Regular Retirees Game at Miniature Market Cave Springs with two games being prepared for our October 19th presentation at the St. Charles County Heritage Museum.
Steve Lowry filled the table with his 54mm version of the Attack on Fort Bowman, with new and improved terrain and his modified for miniatures rules based upon the board-game “Attack on Cahokia“. This scenario assumes that things didn’t go too well for the group under George Rogers Clark and that the final defensive position was under a concentrated attack by the British Native American Allies.
David H, Steve K, Pat L and Greg D all pitched in as players for this run through/critique session. Above and below we see that initial set up as Steve goes over the rules and situation.
The defending troops on the walls and ready to do battle.
The Native Americans making their approach.
The action heating up
A close up of the defenders, with one of the cannons having been knocked out and an infantry unit holding the line.
With two games played valuable feedback was gained from the players helping to make this a great presentation at the coming event.
Game Two was the reworking and tweaking of the Cahokia Farmstead scenario with the change to “Fistful of Lead Horse & Musket” rules. The premise of the scenario remains the same with a single farm holding out against the arriving British/Native American forces. Eight American’s included 2 farmers out in the fields running as fast as they could and 6 other’s armed with muskets facing some 16 attackers.
Here we see the initial set up with the unarmed farmers making haste to get to the walled farm.
Native Americans on the attack.
Another look at the farm.
Burt and Andrew commanding the attacking Native Americans.
Steve & Bill doing their best to foil the plans of the Native American players.
The Native Americans created a double envelopment and were able to overwhelm the defenders with only one loss to themselves.
Some great feedback from all the players and Mark who stopped by to observe and offer his thoughts as well. We will be tweaking the scenario and giving it some more run throughs to be sure it is a top notch presentation for the event.
Thanks to Miniature Market Cave Springs for their continuing support.
