In a time just before the outbreak of the First World War our planet was paid a visit by a few less than friendly types from the planet Mars in this well crafted scenario presented by Pat Lewis.
The Earthlings commanded by Greg D. Steve L. Steve T and Mark J had dug in for a fight and were well supplied and supported behind their trench line just waiting for those rascally Martians under Dave B. Andrew B and Keith S. to arrive on the scene.
This previously fought over ground even included a few wrecks which added to the terrain obstacles and the flavor of the game.
The attacking force suffered from some well placed sacrificial units and traps that took a toll on their numbers. Superb dice rolling by the Earth artillery units made the situation even a bit worse. The Martians did score a nice hit taking out the ambulance that was perhaps just a bit too far forward behind the trenches.
In the end it was just too many hurdles for the tripods to overcome on their advance and the cry went out in a Southern Martian dialect to fall back.
