Semi Regular Retirees Game 05/15/25 Downed RAF Pilot

We gathered at Miniature Market Cave Springs for our Semi Regular Retirees Game trying out a scenario for the upcoming Barracks Battles @ DieCon 2025 Downed RAF Pilot.

The sleepy hamlet of St. Francois was the scene of the action as the French Resistance (Mark & Steve T.) and the local Wehrmacht ( Tom, Pat & Steve L) converged to make off with a downed Royal Air Force Pilot.

Trying out some new to us skirmish rules, Flying Lead, the players helped work through the various stages of the turn and interactions that needed to occur at each stage.

Here Steve L had set up an overwatch with the orange marker near the location of the subject of the game.

Steve T’s French Resistance fighter checks a car for possible use.

Tom and Steve L’s troops move hard to get to the pilot ahead of the French, all the while under fire from Mark’s fighters who have taken up positions in the local graveyard.

A quick move with a good activation roll allowed Steve L to get to the pilot and subdue him.

The pilot being escorted away to a POW camp, but not before Steve T’s fire from the second floor of the Inn hit one of the nearby troopers. Another soldier is seen down from a previous well placed shot by Mark whose forces had been greatly reduced by Pat’s accurate fire.

The game ended with the pilot heading towards Germany and a win for team Steve L, Tom S and Pat L. Many Thanks to the All The Players for their patience and willingness to simply take our time and work through both the rules and the logic of each situation as they came up. Several things were definitely flubbed up early in the game but as we moved forward they seemed to settle down a bit and fall into a nice rhythm. General thoughts on the D6 activation system were overall positive. The mistakes made early on regarding defensive dice rolls were corrected as well as the initiative shift from side to side. The comments by the players were exceptionally helpful to get this game lined up for a good run at our upcoming convention despite Mark not being overly pleased with the pastel colors of the range/movement sticks (LOL).

Thanks to Miniature Market Cave Springs for their continued support.
