Semi Regular Retirees Game 10/23/25 Mythic America

Greg Dieckhaus took us back to an earlier time with a game of “Mythic America” featuring Aztecs vs Incas in a learn to play scenario of the game system this week. The game focuses on the various Native American cultures, their legends, various gods and myths involving Central, North American and some Pacific Islands.

The unit stats are on the cards seen lining the edge of the table for both sides. Greg did a good job balancing this game so that both sides (Pat L & Kevin F vs Mark J and Steve T) would have an opportunity to to learn the basics of movement and combat without too many specialized units and their incumbent rules.

A group of superbly painted archers at the ready.

Some of the great looking terrain that Greg has created on his 3D printer helped to add dimension to the presentation but also served as objectives for the players.

The game features a bit of a different initiative system with D6s being rolled by both sides and then going from high to low dice. Players can choose to apply their dice to any units left that have not moved. Greg created a further variation to allow for a multiplayer game by simply giving each player a different color. In the photo above we see a unit with the white D6 has activated.

Steve checks the measurements on his Condor unit prior to moving.

The Condors mix it up with a normally ground based unit but in this case a special card allowed for them to fly for one turn.

Mark J’s archers have lost a figure to combat and are suffering the effects of having 2 Brave markers as well. Greg created some nice markers for the game on his printer.

The game ended in a GM declared draw as both side had 3 victory points, but we were all winners as we had an opportunity to give this rule set a nice run through and learn a bit of it’s nuances.

Thanks to Greg for getting this one on the table and providing an opportunity for us all to learn something new. Thanks to all the players who joined in and made it a fun afternoon. We also extend our appreciation to Miniature Market Rock Hill for their continued support.
