The folks gathered at Fantasy Books & Games for an evening of ACW Naval Action presented by Steve Lowry as we headed a bit South of the Crescent City along the banks of the Mississippi River.

The Rebel defenders (Craig, Ray R, Steve K and Kevin F) had their defenses ready to engage the oncoming Yankee (Craig & Ray G) on their approach to New Orleans. All enjoying the great looking riverbanks and fortresses created by Pat Lewis.

The Confederates lined up in three columns to and headed South to meet the oncoming Union.

Guns were soon in action as the fleets closed to range with both sides giving and taking damage.

The Rebels closed as quickly as they could using the advantage of the current. Their hopes of ramming the larger Union ships was thwarted by some skillful seamanship by Ray G. Several attempts at ramming did result in collisions that caused damage and a loos of watertight integrity.

The game ended with most of the Confederate ships in dire straits and taking on water. It was concluded that the Union would likely get five to seven of their eight ships off the Northern edge of the map. Some of those would be in good shape and others far less so.
Thanks to Steve for presenting this interesting and challenging scenario. Thanks also to the players who came to puzzle out the table top and of course our Thanks to Fantasy Books & Games for their continued support.
