Doug Hedley sends in this After Action Report of his WWII Naval Game using Nimitz rules that he hosted at the Recon Game Convention earlier this year.
“Battle Java Sea, 1/1800 scale ships , we all know the battle played many times. This time a few small islands were added to the table.“
“The ABDA player tried to escape off of north end of table, going through the small islands and what ensued was a bottleneck of both forces amongst the islands. The IJN placed the two Heavy Cruisers to block the escape area leading to close gunnery action and plenty of torpedo’s.”
“The end results saw the ABDA running out of both time and real estate along with losing the Houston CA, HNMS JAVA , HNMS Kortenaer, HMS Exeter. The IJN marking the Haguro, Naka , Hatsukaze off the active fleet rolls.”
