Day Three of our Annual Reindeer Wars Festival of Gaming saw us at the spacious game room of Fantasy Books & Games in O’Fallon, IL for an afternoon of action packed gaming featuring Stephen Gluck’s Sgt. Rock & The Werewolves using Fistful of Lead Rules alongside Patrick Connaughton’s Imperial Skies Victorian Sci-Fi Naval Convoy Raid.
Easy Company didn’t have it too easy as they needed to clear out this mansion full of German occupiers along with a few strange oddities.
Stephen really went all out on this fine terrain pieces and added some great looking vehicles to set the tone of the game.
The players engaging with the scenario that offered numerous challenges in the well crafted story.
The game ended with Easy Company taking significant losses as apparently the dice were in the Werewolf camp for this game. We look forward to seeing a reprise of this interesting game that drew a good audience.
Table two took us both back in time to the Victorian Era but also to the icy waters of the North Atlantic as Patrick Connaughton presented his Imperial Skies Convoy Raid.
A straightforward but challenging game of naval combat with both sides holding some advantages along with a host of weaknesses to be overcome on a table with rocky outcroppings and a twist of some fast moving icebergs that created some interesting navigational hazards for both sides.
Some superbly painted miniatures from Pat’s collection.
Early in the game as the Prussian chase the British Convoy.
Mid Game as the two reinforcing groups arrive to add to the moving puzzle.
The game ended with a narrow 3 point victory for the British and a great time had by all the players.
Thanks to Stephan, Patrick and all the players who came out for some great gaming. A big Thank You to the staff at Fantasy Books & Games in O’Fallon, IL for their continued support.
Excellent-looking games, and looks like lots of laughs were enjoyed around the table too!
Both games went very well and we had a lot of laughter at the Imperial Skies table. Got to talk with several onlookers and everyone pitched in to both speak with them and hand out information about the group and our activities. Jon Bancroft sank my Light Cruiser but I escaped only to be drug aboard his ship and now I am being hauled off to a gaming convention in Collinsville at last report……
Well Kev,
Sounds like another Pirates scenario plot begins (but to the IL side of the ole Big Muddy).
