Lock phasers on target! Our Wednesday Night Game at Fantasy Books & Games in O’Fallon, IL took off to outer space for a bit of an introductory game of Star Fleet Battles presented to the large group attending by Ray Runge.
Steve Lowry sends in this report by subspace radio for us all to enjoy….
“On July 22, Ray Runge was game master for a star trek battle between five Federation ships and five Klingon battle cruisers. There were 10 players each with one of those ships.”
“The Klingon’s recognized early that the Federation phasers were 50% more powerful and longer range. Therefore, they had to adopt a strategy of hit and run. At the start of the game three Klingons were near John Hoffmann’s Federation ship so they decided to try to destroy it. After losing two of his shields, John decided to retreat out of the area. However, by then two other Federation ships had come to his aid and knocked out two shields of Dennis‘s Klingon ship so Dennis decided to leave the area as well.”
“By that time the ships from the other part of the map had come over and it turned Into a furball of action. Stephen Lowry ship took hits from all five of the Federation’s ships, but he was unable to leave the map after losing three shields and so continued fighting. AJ‘s Federation ship had lost its rear shield and a couple of Klingons were trying to damage him in that area again. At that point in time we decided to call the game.”
